The third instalment of that series, titled The Secrets of Dumbledore, is out now to watch on Max in the US, and is set in 1932, It's a shame, as it would probably be a market for the Harry Potter titles developed by EA, still considered by many the best games developed for the francise.There are eight Harry Potter films, and three instalments in the Fantastic Beasts saga to date, all set decades before Harry, Ron and Hermione's adventures at Hogwarts. And unless Warner loses the license and EA is able to get it again, EA can't add a compatibility patch and remove the protection. EA can't sell them, modify them and so on, as the license is now with Warner (it's been about 10 years since Warner got it). With the Harry Potter games, the troubles do not stop here. And many games were not re-released in the digital format.
Windows was a great system due to its backward compatibility and suddenly we were left hanging, unable to play many of our legally purchased games. Hence, people were angry and they still are. And their statement made quite a stir at the time: either buy the games again if there is a digital release, or use a no-cd (basically telling us to pirate the games for which we've paid and you can find on the web the whole statement). Microsoft considered the old copy protection drivers a security risk and blocked them in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.
Windows 7 is the last operating system that allows the old copy protection drivers to install. The legal options are: a virtual machine with Windows 7 and the legacy Origin client or a dual boot PC, with Windows 7 installed on one of the HDD and the Origin legacy client. This one used SecuROM and the SecuROM drivers are blocked by Windows 10, being prevented to install (not the only old copy protection in this situation, old games protected by SafeDisc, TAGES or StarForce are in the same situation). The problems are due to the game's copy protection.
